Here at SMBP we have been pretty quiet lately as we have been busy working on other projects. However, we are still always getting asked “when can we race at Barjarg again”? Great news is that one of the founding members of SMBP (Ben Watkins) has moved to North East Victoria to focus his efforts on running top events on the best tracks under the name of Alpine Gravity Shuttles. Ben has well over a decade of experience in DH events in Australia and overseas so when he commits to running an event you know it will be good.
Alpine Gravity Shuttles has noticed a gap in the Victorian race scene. The VicDH series is great however there is a long off season and people wanted to still race and ride the best tracks. So, to help fill this gap they have announced a 3 round race series that aims to provide amazing racing on the best tracks in the State. For details on the series and all other news from Alpine Gravity Shuttles please visit the Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alpine-Gravity-Shuttles/344016692276153) or give Ben a call directly on 0421 7999 42.
ALPINE GRAVITATION UPDATE.
Round 1 June 8+9+10 at BARJARG.
PRE ONLINE ENTRY through the MTBA website is $80 for MTBA members. Day licence for non members that covers BOTH days racing is $20 which you MUST PAY ONLINE WITH YOUR ENTRY if you don’t have an MTBA licence. If you want to add Friday 8th all day practice that is only $20 extra but its cash on the day only on the Friday, NOT through the MTBA web site.
Pre-Entry link is here: https://www.registernow.com.au/mtba/ERegister.aspx?E=1076
As usual camping will be free in the paddock at Barjarg, but this event will have a TEN PM NOISE CURFEW each night, so if you want to party on, you’ll be doing it elsewhere, NOT there. STRICTLY NO DOGS so leave em at home. That goes for me too, so don’t bring yours. Full face helmets are COMPULSORY and full ambulance membership is highly recommended. SPEED while driving along the dirt road into the venue will be dropped to 40KPH and I’ve asked the local POLICE to enforce this to prevent neighbours complaining about idiots. STUPID DRIVING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AT THIS EVENT. We are lucky to be able to ride there, so you’ve been warned.
There will also be a BARJARG ride day a week before the race on Sunday 3rd June for those that can’t ride Friday 8th and want to learn the track. Text message full name, age, address and "Barjarg ride day" to 0421 7999 42 for details on how to enter that one. Limited to TWENTY RIDERS ONLY.
Directions:
The race venue is at the end of Sandy Creek Rd, Barjarg, in Victoria’s Northeast. Barjarg is around 180kms from the Melbourne CBD. For a closer look on how to get there look at this Map.
The venue will be sign posted from the main Hwy to make it nice and easy for you to find.
Accommodation:
If you are not wanting to camp for free at the venue then give the Mansfield Visitor Center a call on 1800 039 049. They can give you the phone numbers of all the accommodation that's in the local area. They are open seven days a week 9.00am - 5.00pm
ROUND 2 July 7+8 TRACK TO BE CONFIRMED.
ROUND 3 August 11+12 TRACK TO BE CONFIRMED.
These dates were chosen so they don’t clash with King of Ballarat, so you can still do both series if you want to.
Entries for each round WILL BE CAPPED AT 250 so transport is not long and painful.
